
An attorney with nearly 25 years of litigation experience, Kathryn Meola recently joined the California School Boards Association as general counsel and director of the organization’s Education Legal Alliance. Kathryn Meola previously served in several roles, including chief deputy county counsel, in the San Mateo County Counsel’s Office, where her duties included advising county school districts on areas of law related to special education, discipline and employment. Prior to that, she spent 11 years as deputy district attorney for San Mateo County, where her accomplishments included trying 57 cases through a jury verdict.
A graduate of the College of New Jersey, Kathryn Meola holds a bachelor of arts in English. She received her law degree from the University of San Diego, where she earned accolades including the Joseph P. Burch, Jr., Criminal Justice Award and the Best Brief Award in a Moot Court competition. Before moving to her current home in Sacramento, she was a Planning Commissioner for the City of Belmont. She has given numerous presentations on education and leadership topics such as the individualized education program process, sexual harassment prevention, progressive discipline, and ethics for the government lawyer.
